Sonia De Grand’Maison
Pekuakamiulnuatsh (Ilnu) Nation
Sonia De Grand’Maison est une artiste multidisciplinaire, membre de la nation des Pekuakamiulnuatsh (Ilnu) de
Mashteuiatsh. Sa trajectoire culturelle, un mélange de racines québécoises et Premières Nations, a été influencée par des
lois discriminatoires qui ont longtemps écarté les femmes de la culture autochtone. Ses racines autochtones sont une
alliance de la nation Abénaki qui ont évoluées en territoire ilnu, d’où son intérêt pour l’amalgame de ces deux modes de vie
et visions du territoire dans ses oeuvres. À travers son art et sa profession d’art-thérapeute, elle vise à mettre en lumière
les liens d’interconnexion entre l’humain et la nature, ainsi que de faire rayonner les enseignements culturels reçus.
Sonia De Grand’Maison is a multidisciplinary artist and member of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh (Ilnu) Nation of Mashteuiatsh.
Her cultural trajectory, a blend of Quebec and First Nations roots, has been influenced by discriminatory laws that have long
excluded women from Indigenous cultures. Her Indigenous roots are an alliance of the Abenaki nation, who evolved on Ilnu
territory, hence her interest in blending these two ways of life and visions of the land in her work. Through her art and her
profession as an art therapist, she aims to shed light on the interconnected links between human and nature, and to spread
the cultural teachings she has received.
Danny Dennis

A self-taught artist born in Port Essington, B.C., Danny Dennis is one of the rare Northwest Coast artists who produces
original paintings. Born in 1951, Danny began his artistic career in 1978, also working in the mediums of gold, silver and
ivory as well as silkscreen prints. Inspired by master artists Francis Williams and Robert Davidson, Danny has exhibited in
Germany as well as many Canadian galleries.
Artiste autodidacte né à Port Essington, C.-B., Danny Dennis est l’un des rares artistes de la côte du nord-ouest à produire des
tableaux originaux. Né en 1951, Danny a débuté sa carrière artistique en 1978 en travaillant également l’or, l’argent et l’ivoire
de même que la sérigraphie. Inspiré par des maîtres tels Francis Williams et Robert Davidson, Danny a exposé en Allemagne
ainsi que dans de nobreuses galeries d’art du Canada.
Jessica Desmoulin
Ojibway
Jessica was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on September 18, 1978. She is Ojibway of the Pic River First Nation. As a
child she lived in Rochester, Alberta and later in Sparwood, British Columbia. After the birth of her second child, Jessica
developed an illness that left her unable to work outside the home. Jessica took this opportunity to approach her art
seriously and began to paint canvas. She credits the love and support of her family for allowing her the chance to explore
her love of art. Jessica currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta.
Jessica est née à Saskatoon, au centre de la Saskatchewan le 18 septembre 1978. Elle est Ojibwée de la Première nation de Pic
River. Enfant, elle a vécu à Rochester, dans l’Alberta et puis à Sparwood, en Colombie-Britannique. Après la naissance de son
deuxième enfant, Jessica a développé une maladie qui l’a rendue incapable de travailler à l’extérieur de la maison. Jessica a
saisi cette occasion pour se pencher sur son art de façon sérieuse et a commencé à peindre des toiles. Elle reconnaît l’amour
et le soutien de sa famille qui lui a donné la chance d’explorer son amour pour l’art. Jessica vit actuellement à Edmonton, dans
l’Alberta.
