Tsleil-Waututh Nation
Zac George is a member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. He was born and raised in North Vancouver and now lives in Chehalis,
BC. His work is inspired by his late grandparents, Chief Dan and Amy George, and Robert and Betty Edge. Zac studied
carving with Don Joe of Chehalis and is proud to use the Coast Salish artistic style. He lives the rich cultural lifestyle of the
Salish People: he is a hunter and a fisherman and follows the traditional spirituality practiced by his people for centuries.
Zac George est membre de la Nation Tsleil-Waututh. Il est né et a grandi à North Vancouver et vit aujourd’hui à Chehalis, en
Colombie-Britannique. Son travail est inspiré par ses grands-parents décédés : le chef Dan et Amy George, ainsi que Robert
et Betty Edge. Zac a étudié la sculpture avec Don Joe de Chehalis et se réclame fièrement du style artistique des Salish de la
Côte. Il vit dans la riche culture du peuple Salish : chasseur et pêcheur, il se conforme à la spiritualité traditionnelle pratiquée
par son peuple depuis des siècles.
Laina Geeta

Laina Geetah was born on October 25, 1998 in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Laina’s biological parents are the late Tanya Curley and
Johnny Pootoogook. She was adopted by David Simiga and Saila Geetah. Laina has 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Laina comes
from an artistic family on the Pootoogook side. She is a self-taught artist and started drawing at the age of 18. She likes to
draw anything or everything she likes. Laina will continue to pursue her art as long as she can.
Laina Geetah est née le 25 octobre 1998 à Iqaluit, au Nunavut. Ses parents biologiques sont feu Tanya Curley et Johnny
Pootoogook. Adoptée par David Simiga et Saila Geetah, Laina a quatre sœurs et quatre frères. Du côté paternel, Laina est issue
d’une famille d’artistes, les Pootoogook. Elle est autodidacte et a commencé à dessiner à l’âge de 18 ans. Elle aime dessiner
tout ce qui lui plaît. Laina poursuivra sa pratique artistique aussi longtemps qu’elle le pourra.
Laird Goulet

Laird Goulet is a Canadian First Nations Métis artist, from Opaskawayak Cree Nation raised in The Pas, Manitoba; where
he grew up experiencing life on the trap-line. With help and encouragement from his family, Laird began his painting
adventures. Laird works primarily in acrylics on canvas, and tries to capture what it’s like to live as a First Nations person
in Canada. From his early childhood to the present, Laird has re-imagined and chose the healing path that has led to an
appreciation of who he is and what he has experienced, with a focus on the human ties to the land.
Laird Goulet est un artiste des Premières nations du Canada, originaire de la Nation Crie d’Opaskwayak, il a grandi à Le Pas à
Manitoba; où il a grandi en arpentant les lignes de trappes. Avec l’aide et les encouragements de sa famille, Laird commença
ses aventures picturales. Laird travaille principalement en acrylique sur toile et essaye d’immortaliser ce que c’est que de
vivre comme membre d’une Première Nation au Canada. De sa petite enfance jusqu’aujourd’hui, Laird a réinventé et a choisi
le chemin de la guérison qui l’a conduit à une appréciation de qui il est et des expériences qu’il a vécu, en mettant un accent
particulier sur les liens humains et la terre.
