Arnold Isbister
Cree
Arnold attended the International Banff Centre of Fine Arts. In 1975, he enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan in the
Bachelor of Fine Arts program. In his 3rd year, Arnold switched his major to psychology and in his 4th year, he was employed
by the Regional Psychiatric Centre (a federal penitentiary) from 1980 – 1995. Writing is an integral part of his art, with a
book being released though Wingate Press in June 2005 titled “Stories Moshum & Kokum Told Me” and this book was also
shortlisted for the “ Aboriginal-Book-Of-The-Year”. He has now combined his paintings, his culture and short stories into a
book of storytelling.

Arnold a étudié au Centre International des Beaux-Arts de Banff. En 1975, il s’inscrit à l’Université de la Saskatchewan dans le
programme de baccalauréat en beaux-arts et en 3ème année, il fait une majeure en psychologie et en 4e année a travaillé pour
le Centre Régional Psychiatrique (un pénitencier fédéral) de 1980 à 1995. L’écriture a été une partie intégrale de son art avec
un livre publié que la presse de Wingate a intitulé en Juin 2005 “Stories Moshum & Kokum Told Me” et ce livre a également été
nominé pour le “Livre-Autochtone-De-L’Année”. Il a rassemblé ses peintures, sa culture et de courtes histoires dans un livre
de contes.
Marissa Indoe
Anishinaabe
Marissa Indoe is an Anishinaabe artist from Chapleau Ojibwe First Nation, residing in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She creates
a variety of acrylic paintings, digital artwork, and beadwork with hand painted centers. Her art style is a more modern twist
on traditional Anishinaabe art with a focus on certain elements such as florals, animals, and nature. Marissa aims to bring
joy to those who see her work, but also to find happiness herself through the creative process.
Marissa Indoe est une artiste anichinabée de la Première Nation ojibwée de Chapleau, qui réside à Sault-Sainte-Marie, en
Ontario. Elle crée des peintures acryliques, des œuvres d’art numériques et de perlages aux centres peints à la main. Son style
artistique s’inscrit dans une version moderne de l’art traditionnel anichinabé, qui met l’accent sur certains éléments tels que
les fleurs, les animaux et la nature. Marissa cherche à apporter de la joie à ceux qui voient ses œuvres, mais aussi à trouver
elle-même le bonheur à travers le processus créatif.
James Jacko
Odawa-Pottawan
James Jacko is an Odawa/Pottawan senior artist of the Three Fires Confederacy from the Wiikwemikoong Unceded Indian
Reserve, Manitoulin Island. He is a self taught artist and his artistic accomplishments go back as far as 1972. His greatest
influences come from his family, most of whom are very detailed in their own style either through arts and crafts, trades,
and work ethic, along with strong cultural surroundings and beauty of his home community.
James Jacko est un artiste senior Odawa/Pottawan du Conseil des Trois Feux, de la réserve amérindienne non cédée de
Wiikwemikoong, sur l’île Manitoulin. Il est un artiste autodidacte et ses réalisations artistiques remontent à 1972. Ses plus
grandes influences viennent des membres de sa famille qui s’expriment, chacun à leur manière, de façon précise et minutieuse,
soit par l’artisanat, les métiers et l’éthique du travail. La beauté de sa communauté d’origine et la force de son environnement
culturel l’ont aussi marqué.
