Angela Kimble
Coast Salish / Nuu-Chah-Nulth
Angela Kimble is Coast Salish/ Nuu-Cha-Nulth from Tsawout First Nations in Saanich, BC. Angela’s father is master carver
Doug La Fortune and mother Kathleen Horne. Angela grew up in Victoria, BC often helping her father with his work, painting
carvings and totems. Growing up surrounded by such art inspired her to create her own designs, a contemporary style of
Coast Salish art. Angela prefers to draw free hand and can be found painting on canvases and wood.
Angela Kimble est une amérindienne salish du littoral/Nuu-chah-nulth de la Première Nation Tsawout, Saanich, en ColombieBritannique. Le père d’Angela est le maître sculpteur Doug Lafortune et sa mère est Kathleen Horne. Angela a grandi à Victoria,
en Colombie-Britannique, en aidant souvent son père à réaliser ses œuvres, ses gravures peintes et ses totems. Grandir
entourée de tout cet art lui a donné l’inspiration pour créer ses propres œuvres avec un style d’art contemporain salish du
littoral. Angela préfère dessiner à main levée et peindre sur des toiles et du bois.

Bradley Kirby
Inuvialuit
Bradley Kirby is an Inuvialuit man, born and raised in Inuvik, North West Territories, Canada. In 2000, Bradley moved to
Vancouver away from a land covered in snow and ice to the ‘rainy’ west coast – this was a big change but one that he
found very exciting. Shortly after arriving in Vancouver Bradley ran into his old friend, Dwayne Koe ‘Haluk’ and he became
his apprentice. Working in soapstone they began producing works together with Haluk doing the carving and Bradley doing
the sanding and finishing.
Bradley Kirby est un Inuvialuit, né et élevé à Inuvik, dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest. En 2000, Bradley a déménagé à
Vancouver, loin d’une terre couverte de neige et de glace, à la côte ouest “pluvieuse” – c’était un grand changement, certes,
mais qu’il a trouvé très excitant. Peu de temps après son arrivée à Vancouver Bradley rencontré son vieil ami, Dwayne Koe
“Haluk” et il est devenu son élève. Travaillant dans la pierre à savon, ils ont commencé à produire en collaboration, avec Haluk
en sculpture et Bradley en ponçage et finition. Ils ont travaillé en équipe à voyager à travers la Colombie-Britannique, vendant
leurs sculptures au fur et à mesure de leur périple.

Doug LaFortune was born in Bellingham, Washington, USA. He spent his childhood in the Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver
Island, B.C. LaFortune’s artistic training includes studying at Camosun College and as an apprentice of the renowned Salish
carver Simon Charlie. Since 1973, LaFortune has been working as an artist in several mediums, including carving, drawing,
painting, and serigraphy.
Doug LaFortune est né à Bellingham, Washington, États-Unis. Il a passé son enfance dans la vallée de Cowichan, sur l’île de
Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique. La formation artistique de LaFortune comprend des études au Camosun College et une
période d’apprentissage auprès du célèbre sculpteur Salish Simon Charlie. Depuis 1973, LaFortune travaille comme artiste
dans plusieurs domaines, notamment la sculpture, le dessin, la peinture et la sérigraphie.
