Garner Moody
Haida
Garner was born on May 27th, 1958 in Prince Rupert, BC, Canada and he was raised in Skidegate, on Haida Gwaii. He is the
nephew of prolific argillite carver, Rufus Moody. Garner was artistic as a child. He remembers drawing a great deal from age
9 onwards, and he carved his first piece of argillite when he was 15. Garner moved to Vancouver in 1987 and was invited
to help Bill Reid work on his full-scale ‘Lootaas’ canoe. Garner currently lives on Haida Gwaii and focuses on argillite, gold
jewelry and carving in red and yellow cedar.
Garner est né à Prince Rupert le 27 mai 1958, en Colombie-Britannique, au Canada et il a grandi à Skidegate, sur Haida Gwaii.
Il est le neveu du prolifique sculpteur d’argilite, Rufus Moody. Garner était artistique comme un enfant. Il se souvient avoir
beaucoup dessiné dès l’âge de 9 ans et il a sculpté son premier morceau d’argilite à l’âge de 15 ans. Garner a déménagé à
Vancouver en 1987 et a été invité à aider Bill Reid à travailler sur son canot «Lootaas» grandeur nature. Garner vit actuellement
à Haida Gwaii et se concentre sur l’argilite, les bijoux en or et la sculpture sur cèdre rouge et jaune.
Bruce Morrisseau
Ojibway
Bruce Morrisseau, nephew of renowned painter Norval Morrisseau, was born in 1965 in Beardmore, Ontario. He has been
creating and expressing the woodlands style taught to him by his uncle for over 10 years. It is Bruce’s wish to pass on
Ojibway culture and traditions to all people. He feels he can express himself through this style of art and finds it very healing.

Bruce Morrisseau, neveu du célèbre peintre Norval Morrisseau, est né en 1965 à Beardmore Ontario. Il crée et s’exprime dans
le style “Woodland” (Indien des bois) enseigné par son oncle depuis plus de 10 ans. C’est le souhait de Bruce de transmettre
la culture et les traditions Ojibway à tous les peuples. Il sent qu’il peut s’exprimer à travers cette forme d’art qu’il trouve très
guérissante.
